Our Bachelor of Visual Arts, shaped in collaboration with local industry and community leaders, offers practical learning experiences guided by internationally renowned artists like Jill Orr. Students engage in creative arts projects with local organizations, aligning with events like the Ballarat International Foto Biennale and collaborating with institutions like the Art Gallery of Ballarat.

The Bachelor of Visual Arts is part of Federation University Australia’s Co-operative Model, ensuring students are work and world-ready through direct industry connections, placements, and skill development. A Co-op version is in development, providing students with enhanced work experience in art-related industries. The program involves co-designing and co-delivering experiential learning activities and industry-based projects with creative industries, students, and alumni.

Co-op placements, unique to Federation University, occur in leading art galleries, arts organizations, schools, and community groups. These experiences, aligned with creative industries, develop transferable skills applicable beyond the arts sector, including critical thinking, leadership, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship.
